The House & Gardens

The Doherty House & Gardens, perfectly situated in the heart of Clare Michigan, is an an ideal space for families and friends to build lasting memories together.

With a beautifully landscaped backyard and serene surroundings, we are the perfect space for small to medium sized events and garden parties. We offer full assistance with set up and tear down of the garden space and carriage house, and take care of the small details so you can enjoy your guests. You can self-cater with our support, or work with us and our catering partners to ensure a successful event.

For stays, spacious living areas that can accommodate up to 20 people with large bedrooms and a dormitory-style attic provide great space for being together without feeling crowded.

The first floor of consists of a living room (yes, there is a working piano!) and den with with cozy furnishings, dining room, a half bath, and a fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy a cup of coffee or master the chef’s grill on the patio, just off of the kitchen.

On the second floor you’ll find four large, comfortable bedrooms and two baths. The Master’s ensuite bath, is accessible by both the bedroom and the hallway.

Bedroom 3, Chicago: 1 queen bed
Bedroom 4, Koln: 1 king bed
Bedroom 5, The Den: double sofa bed

On the third floor you’ll find a dormitory setup–a bonus space for an extended family.

The Attic, a common space: 4 queen beds, 5 single beds

In the basement, you can find a few more perks:

Home sauna

Home gym: treadmill, free weights, boxing bag

Necessities & Extras

Bedding, linens, towels provided. A hair dryer is available for guest use. A pack-n-play and stroller may be available upon request, depending on availability.

Home gym, a sauna, 4 TVs, a washer and dryer, and wireless internet access. Air conditioning, fireplace.

Fully functional kitchen. Blender, Coffee Maker, Dishes / Utensils, Cookware, Dishwasher, Microwave.

The town

Located in a small town of approximately 3,500, the Doherty House & Gardens is on the main street and you can walk to restaurants, pubs, and the grocery store. There is always something going on in our little town!

You’ll have all the conveniences of home at the Doherty House & Gardens but you’ll definitely want to venture out to the quaint shops in historic downtown. We’re onNorth McEwan St and a block from the Doherty Hotel, famous for many things, including their spectacular pub and menu. The well-known Cops & Doughnuts shop is 3 blocks away, as are many other great eateries. Jay’s Sporting Goods is 2 miles away and CMU is 14 miles away.
